The classic Pontiac GTO
Pontiac has a propertied account dating back to 1926. In its ace second childhood, the Trade-mark had a fame for innovation, largely for its sports cars, such as the GTO and the Firebird. Pontiac is owned by General Motors (GM). On Apr 27, 2009, GM announced it would discontinue the Pontiac Trade-mark after the 2010 replica year.
Basic Warranty
2009 Pontiac vehicles came from the workshop with a three-year, 36,000-mile basic warranty. This warranty is much referred to as a "bumper-to-bumper" warranty, although it does not subsume prolongation items such as wiper blades or tires.
Powertrain Warranty
Pontiac vehicles (2007 to 2010) come with a five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. This warranty covers large-scale internal engine and transmission components.
Exclusions
Problems caused due to abuse, neglect or dearth of maintainance are not covered under either warranty. Physical damage is further not covered under the warranty.
Effects of Bankruptcy
Habitual Motors (GM) filed bankruptcy on Jun 1, 2009. As factor of its restructuring programme, the Pontiac Trade-mark was discontinued. GM's bankruptcy has no corollary on your warranty coverage; neither does the discontinuation of the Pontiac brand. Whether the dealer is or was a Pontiac dealer, he will be able to service and honor the warranty on your car.
The original warranty term will be honored.
