Remove Hail Damage From The Steel Hood Using Warmth

Hail has the feasible for wreaking damage on cars and trucks unfortunately caught off guard in a hailstorm. Apply a small amount of petroleum jelly to the bottom of a household plunger. Plunger Method


1. Whether your vehicle suffers extreme damage, it should be professionally repaired. Infant damage, such as dents to the steel hood of a van, is a repair you can easily create yourself. Disparate techniques can be employed to remove the dent in a steel hood.


Position the plunger over the dent. Push it firmly onto the hood of the car to create an airtight suction.


3. Quickly pull upward on the the plunger using both hands. You should be able to feel and hear the dent pop out.


Heat Method


4. Open the hood of the car. Secure it in the open position with the hood support bar.


5. Blow a hairdryer on the dent for five to 10 minutes until the steel feels warm to the touch.


6. Bang out the dent with a mallet. Strike the dent on the interior side of the hood so you are forcing the dent upward. Apply more heat from the hair dryer if necessary.


7. Soak a cloth in ice water. Place the cloth over the repaired dented area to cool the hood.
