Stock 1970 Olds 442 W32 Specs

Accepted Motors' Oldsmobile Trade-mark introduced the Olds 442 muscle van in 1964 as an possibility carton for its Cutlass mould. The numbers 442 direct to the exceptional configuration of this machine; a four-barelled carburettor, a four-speed guide transmission and dual (two) exhausts. This van was a staple of Oldsmobile's muscle vehivle programme from 1964 until it was discontinued in 1973. Many contrastive engines and engine send were used during the vehivle's flight; the W-32 was peerless used for two senescence, 1969 to 1970. This extensive V-8 provids robust performance for this classic muscle van.

Displacement, Torque and Horsepower

The 1970 W-32 engine features a displacement of 455 cubic inches and produces 365 horsepower at 5,000 rpm. It produces a maximum of 500 foot pounds of torque at 3,200 rpm. This was the most effectual inventory Engine installed in any Oldsmobile van up to that duration.

Bore, Stroke and Compression Ratio

The cylinder Muzzle of this Engine is 4.125 inches; the stroke 4.25 inches. The stroke is larger than the Muzzle, atom of the apprehension the engine is capable of producing great amounts of torque and horsepower.Distributor: 1111982Primary fuel jets: 7031970Primary rods: 7034849

The impetus for the contrariness in diameters of these valves is congruous to the impetus for the contrariness in lift activity. Increased exhaust pressure increases the speed at which the piston moves in the cylinder, maximizing power.

Intake and Exhaust Valve Lift and Duration

The intake and exhaust valves operate with the same lift, .472 inches. The lift duration for the intake valve is 285 degrees, and the duration for the exhaust valve is 287 degrees. The difference in durations is a function of performance; longer for intake allowed more oxygen to mix with the fuel providing more robust and complete combustion. A shorter exhaust lift duration increases the pressure on the piston on the return stroke, increasing power.

Carburetor

The 1970 W-32 comes with a Rochester four-barrel carburetor, model 7040257. This carburetor provides increased power over two-barrel models by providing the engine with a larger amount of fuel per cylinder cycle; more fuel equals stronger individual cylinder combustions and more horsepower.

Other Parts

Original manufacturers' equipment numbers are available on a number of other parts installed on this engine. These are the original part numbers for the factory Oldsmobile parts.

Camshaft: 400165

The compression ratio is 10.25:1. This extensive compression ratio helps the engine fit speedy, responsive ability when the Gauze pedal is pushed.

Intake and Exhaust Valves

The intake valve calibre on the 1970 W-32 is 2.072 inches; the exhaust valve 1.625 inches.
