Some Dodge Dakota models come with six-speed guidebook transmissions, as opposed to the more and more habitual automatic transmissions. While automatic Dakotas Testament switch between gears on their own depending on engine rpm, album transmissions need the Chauffeur to change gears. This allows for more control when driving the truck but also requires a specific knowledge of change gears using a clutch and stick shift. Once you understand use the clutch pedal, you can shift manually between gears.
Instructions
1. Press down all the way on the clutch pedal. The clutch is located to the left of the gas pedal.
2. Shift the stick into first by pulling it left and upward until it locks into place.
3. While in neutral, you can release your foot from the clutch without the car shutting down.
Never start the car in anything other than first gear, or you can damage the transmission.
5. Move the gear into the center position to put it into neutral. Turn the ignition key clockwise until the engine cranks.4.
