1. Grounds the vehicle on a continuous surface and lift it with a hydraulic jack. Up thrust the rear to prevent transmission fluid from leaking. Secure the vehicle on four jack stands.


2. Custom a punch to stop the transmission confine of the driveshaft. This allows you to re-install the guide shaft in the identical position.


3. Capitalization a wrench to remove the U-joint straps and bolts. Remove the driveshaft.


4. Place the c-clips on the inside of the axle. Dwelling your screwdriver on the extent of the clips and hammer them slightly so they stick elsewhere Sufficiently to appropriate with pliers.


5. Apply vice grips or needlenose pliers to squeeze the ends of the clips well-balanced, then pull them away.


6. Support the driveshaft in a bench vise and do not allow it to hang. Use a 1 1/16" socket as a support on one side of the U-joint cup.


7. Place an 11/16" socket into the center of the opposite U-joint cup. You can start with a 1/2" lug nut if the bench vise will not open far enough to use the 11/16" socket.


8. Provided a U-joint has shift loose or damaged, it can reason anything from vibrations to a broken drive shaft, so it's decisive to control it up to par and change it provided needed.

Remove U-Joint


Remove the driveshaft from the bench vise once the U-joint bottoms out against the yoke. Use vice grips or needlenose pliers to pull the U-joint cup completely out of the driveshaft yoke.


10. Put the driveshaft yoke back into the bench vise exactly as before. Push the U-joint and remaining cup back into and then out of the yoke.


11. Remove the driveshaft from the bench vise. Use vise grips or needlenose pliers to pull the remaining U-joint cup out and totally remove the U-joint.


12. Repeat the process on the opposite end of the driveshaft.
