Disconnect Battery Power Cable As The Engine Is Running

Receive persist caution when removing a battery.


The battery supplies the amperage needed to begin a vehicle and escape some of the vehicle's descendant systems such as the dome blaze or the radio's commemoration. After the vehicle is running, the alternator supplies the essential volts to direct the vehicle running. Removing a battery while the engine is running is dangerous and should only be done if a genuine need is present. Stand to the side of the vehicle where the battery is located, rather than in front of the vehicle.3. Put on the safety gear.



Review the layout of the battery and engine.


2. Position yourself so that you are clear of any moving parts. Specifically, do not hover over the engine fan or belts. The process is simple and requires some careful planning and about 10 minutes of time.

Instructions

1. Park the car, raise the hood and locate the battery.


Handling a battery can be dangerous. Protective glasses will protect your eyes from splashing battery acid if the battery is damaged and rubber gloves will protect your hands.


4. Disconnect the negative lead on the battery using a socket wrench and set to the side. Disconnect the positive lead and set to the side. Disconnect any hold down clamps and remove the battery.
