The Dodge Dakota came with two differential back window options: one with solid back glass, one with a sliding back window. The sliding back window helps help in ventilation, however it further can be a security risk, as it can be facile for a thief to rent into. Provided you wish to remove your sliding back window to alter it with a solid back window or ethical to allot a broken window, it can be done in under 30 minutes.
Instructions
1. Position an assistant in the Bedstead so he is holding the back glass. Pry off the seal on the bottom of the window with the flat-head screwdriver, while the assistant lifts on the glass to pull it out of the seal. Remove the glass from the back of the cab with both of you carrying the window. Have your assistant stick another flat-head screwdriver between the glass and cab to keep the window from popping back into the cab.
2. Work the rubber across the top of the cab so that the seal is off the cab, with your assistant setting either screwdrivers or other objects between the cab and the window to keep the two apart. When the top of the rubber seal is off, work your way down the sides of the glass with the flat-head screwdriver and then stop in the rear corners.
3. Hold the top of the window with both hands; have the assistant perform this task. Position yourself on the inside of the cab so you are looking at the back glass. Locate the black rubber seal around the glass on the inside of the cab by the headliner. Pry the rubber away from the corner, using the flat-head screwdriver.
