Changing the lock cylinder in your Jeep Freedom may be expedient for a quantity of reasons. There may be something erring with the switch that hampers the ignition activation. Further, to protect your vehicle from theft, you may craving to transform the lock so its solution differs from the indispensable to the doors of your vehicle.
Instructions
1. Insert your ignition key into the lock cylinder and make sure the gear shift is in park.
2. Remove the two screws within the front bottom corner of the lower steering column cover using a screwdriver. Reconnect the ring and keyless module to the housing and then reconnect the steering column covers with their clips and screws. Remove the key from the cylinder.
4. Turn the switch to the "On" position and insert a small punch into the hole in the bottom of the ignition switch/lock cylinder housing. Then pull the key and cylinder out while you push in the punch.
5. Insert the key for the new lock cylinder into the cylinder and insert it into the housing while turned to the "On" position. Listen for the cylinder to snap into place and then turn it to the "Lock" position.
6. Pinch the lower end of the upper cover and then separate the upper and lower covers.3. Detach the keyless entry module and ring surrounding the lock cylinder.
