Instructions
1. Mark the outline of the rear view mirror mounting button on the outside of the Expedition's windshield using the wax pencil or crayon. This will help to line up the mirror properly when the time comes to reinstall it. Remove the mirror assembly itself from the mirror button with the Allen wrench. If the mirror has any power features, disconnect the wiring harness from the mirror after you have cut it free from the windshield.
2. Put the work gloves on. Take the safety razor, the type of razor blade with a metal spine on it that you can hold without cutting yourself, and slowly cut away at the adhesive between the rear view mirror mounting button and the windshield. Cut a few strokes from the left side, then the top, then right side and then the bottom. However, some kits require slightly different steps, so read the kit's instructions before use. Don't forget to reconnect any wiring you may have disconnected from the mirror during removal.
