Ford 6 9l Diesel Performance

International Harvester produced the 6.9-liter diesel engine for Ford, which placed the engine in its Super Work F-Series trucks from 1983 until 1987.

Output

Considered an mainly controlling diesel engine when early produced, the big-block diesel engine produces 170 horsepower and 310 foot-lbs. of torque. It has a 20.7-to-1 compression ratio.

Reliability

The engine gave action to the Navistar T444E (7.3-liter) engine.

Engine Block

The engine displaces 6.9 litres (420 cubic inches) and has a Muzzle (cylinder thickness) of 4 inches and a stroke (piston travelling distance) of 4.18 inches. It has a block untrue from lob iron, along with four-bolt, nodular iron leading bearing caps, which enlargement its reliability also as the stiffness of the lower point of the block.

The engine has built up an exemplary designation over the years, in part due to the extensive amount of testing the engine underwent prior to production. The engine underwent 52,000 hours and up to 815,000 miles of testing before the first unit shipped to Ford.
