1959 Cadillac Hearse Powertrain

Cadillac manufactured a 390 cubic inch V-8 for its 1959 vehicles. The engine produces 325 to 345 horsepower at 4,800 rpm and 430 to 435 foot-pounds of torque at 3,400 rpm. Some 1959 Cadillacs were converted to adept vehicles such as limousines, ambulances and hearses. Independent coach builders Eureka, Hess & Eisenhardt, Miller-Meteor and Superior all produced hearses based on 1959 Cadillacs.

Coach builder Eureka's Landau hearse was offered in six configurations, priced from $11,251 to $12,881. Eureka manufactured two hearse/ambulance combinations: the popular roof imitation was $11,006 to $11,224 and the full-view mould was $11,006 to $12,636.

The combination hearse/ambulance came with a tome rear or side-loading Coffin apparatus for $11,516 and an electric-powered apparatus for $12,079. The Futura was priced from $10,474 to $11,865. The Classic example had a payment area of $10,474 to $11,865. Both the Futura and Classic hearses were convertible to limousines or ambulances.

1959 Cadillac Hearses by Superior

Superior produced four models of its Coronet Royale Landaulet hearse, priced from $10,781 to $12,427.

The more and more dramatic styling of 1950s Cadillacs culminated in the polarizing 1959 example. Its signature tail fins rise higher off the ground --- 42 inches --- than those of any Cadillac before or after. Massive chrome bumpers, quad headlights and a length of over 20 feet all contribute to the striking theory much specious by the 1959 Caddy.

The Engine's compression ratio is 10.5:1. The Muzzle is 4 inches and stroke is 3.875 inches. The four-speed Hydra-Matic transmission was the lone offered.
