Remove the engine from your Geo.
Suzuki manufactured the Geo Underground from 1989 to 2001. You can remove the engine from your 1996 Geo Underground from homely, saving yourself a piece of wealth. 2. Pop the hood and remove the bolts holding the hood hinges in place using a socket wrench set. Have your assistant hold onto the hood and help you lift it off the car.
3. Remove both battery cables using an adjustable wrench.
4. Remove the radiator by locating the hold down supports. These can be removed with a socket wrench set. Place a bucket underneath the radiator and remove the lower radiator hose with a screwdriver set. Remove the radiator cap. Let all the fluid empty into the bucket.
5. Remove the upper radiator hose with a screwdriver set. Lift the radiator up and out of the Geo.
6. Locate two strong points on the engine block. Remove bolts from the engine block and thread the chain through and retighten the bolts with the socket wrench set.
7. Locate the transmission to engine bolts. This is where the transmission attaches to the engine. Remove these bolts with the socket set.
8. Locate the upper and lower motor mounts on the engine. There will be one on either side of the bottom of the engine and one near the top. Disconnect these mounts with your socket set. The engine will now be resting in the car but loose.
9. Locate all of the electrical connectors that connect the engine wiring to the wiring harness and disconnect them by pulling them apart. In any occasion, it is in truth an undertaking to remove an engine and it requires either the buy or the rental of an engine hoist.

11. Ask your assistant to continue to jack it up while you maneuver the engine backwards and forwards with a crow bar until it releases from the transmission and the engine compartment. At this point make sure nothing else is attached to the engine that will keep it from pulling out completely.
12. Jack the engine up the rest of the way and pull it clear from the car.
