5. Loosen the clamp on the top hose on the fuel pump. Remove the two wires at the top of the fuel pump. With a dinky lifting action, lift the pump up off its seat and withdraw it from the fuel continuous sending unit housing.


6. Lay the dissimilar hose on the top of the new fuel pump, but leave the clamp loose. Engage the hose on the top of the pump with the outlet portion of the sending unit from which the old fuel pump and hose was previously removed. Install the new rubber lower seat correctly into the bottom and, with a lifting motion, push the pump into the seat. Make sure that it is oriented properly.


7. Install a new filter to the bottom of the pump. Install the two electrical connectors on the pump and make sure the hose clamp is tight. Install the pump carefully into the tank while making sure not to bend or damage the fuel-sending unit. Orient the pump cap correctly into the top of the tank with respect to the corresponding tang and receptacle.


8. Install the lock ring on the top of the tank. While exerting downward pressure, turn the ring clockwise until it is beneath the holding tangs. Use the hammer and chisel to further turn it until it is locked into place. Raise the tank sufficiently to reinstall the top hoses on the fuel pump, and continue to install the tank in reverse order of removal.
