The sway bar in your 1988 Mustang helps eliminate reason roll caused by weight transfer in a turn. It works by transferring some of the constraint applied to the trundle on the out of the turn down the sway bar to the suspension attached to the circle on the inside of the turn. This improves the handling of the Mustang by forcing the tires to endure loaded and in contact with the ground while turning a corner.
Instructions
1. Pry elsewhere the remaining parts of the foot link from between the sway bar and lower force arm with a pry bar.4. Slide one of the advanced cusp link washers and then a cutting edge rubber bushing onto the recent borderline link bolt with the rounded side of the washer and bushing against the hex stop of the bolt.
Remove the lug nuts from the front wheels with a lug wrench then allot the wheels aside. Establish the sway bar head links. These are on the objective of the sway bar and connect the extent of the sway bar to the lower government arm.
3. Compass a 13 mm wrench onto the sense of the elongated bolt that passes concluded the point link and remove the aficionado on the other aim of the bolt with a 13 mm far socket and ratchet. Slide the bolt outside of the extreme link. Practice the parking brake and habitat shove chocks extreme and in front of one or both rear wheels. Lift the front of the Mustang with a floor jack positioned under the front sub-frame. Position a jack stand under Everyone front lower control arm and lower the automobile onto the stands.2.
Slip the threaded confine of the bolt complete the gap in the sway bar and install another bushing and washer onto the bolt.
5. Slide the tube-shaped spacer and the third washer and bushing onto the bolt. Pry down on the sway bar and slip the meeting into distance on the control arm. Install the final washer and bushing onto the end link bolt and secure it with the new nut. Tighten the nut until the rubber bushings start to squeeze out at the center. Repeat the process for the other side of the Mustang.
6. Remount the wheels and re-tighten the lug nuts securely. Raise the car off the jack stands, remove the stands then lower the Mustang to the ground with the jack. Torque the lug nuts to 100 ft.-lbs. with a torque wrench.
