Replace An Ignition Secure A 2001 Ford Focus

Alternate an Ignition Lock in a 2001 Ford Nerve center


Push the ignition lock into cylinder until it locks into place. Turn the key off. Replace the plastic trim cover to the underside of the steering column and replace the retaining screws.


Instructions


1. Locate the three retaining screws on the underside of the plastic steering column trim cover. One is located under the tilt wheel lever. Remove the screws with a Phillips screwdriver and place them aside.


2. Remove the trim cover by carefully lowering it from the steering column once the retaining screws have been removed. Place the cover aside.


3. Insert the ignition key into the lock cylinder and turn it to the "ON" position.


4. Locate the small hole in the side of the ignition lock cylinder, which should have been revealed after removing the trim cover. Insert a small-diameter center punch into the hole and push it in slightly.


5. Grasp the ignition key and use it to pull the ignition lock straight out of the lock cylinder.


6. To install a new ignition lock, place the key into the lock before beginning. Line up the tabs on the outside of the ignition lock with the slots in the lock cylinder.The Ford Spotlight was introduced as a 2000 replica in North America, so also hasty changes were untrue to the 2001 models.
