An emissions complication can author your vehicle to issue a piece of smoke from the exhaust tube.
Emissions problems can create your vehicle drop poorly, misuse fuel, pollute the sphere and, in some states, cause your vehicle to be banned from the roads. Provided your machine has an emissions problem, you must diagnose and repair it as soon as viable.
Instructions
1. Inspect your automobile while it is running. Stare at the dashboard to study whether your probation engine glassy is on; provided your emissions step has problems, indicator aglow should be on. Behold if the vehicle's tailpipes ooze an infrequent bigness of smoke, or thick gloomy, coal or white smoke; this is another sign of an emissions problem. Check your vehicle's owner's manual if you cannot find the computer.3. Turn the OBD-II scanner on and press the scan button to check your car's systems for problems. Emissions problems that cause the check engine light to come on will appear in code on the scanner's screen.
If you cannot find the tailpipe, it may have rusted and fallen off; you probably need to replace the entire exhaust system.2. Attach the OBD-II code reader to your vehicle's internal computer. Insert the diagnostic prong on the code reader's cable into the port on the computer, which is under the dashboard.
Specific OBD-II devices may vary slightly in their operation procedures, so read the code reader's instruction manual before use.
4. Write down all of the codes that the scanner reports, then decode them by looking them up in the scanner's owner's manual or a website such as Engine Light Help, which lists specific manufacturer codes besides as generic ones. Once you have decoded them, you will know which components in your vehicle's emissions system are malfunctioning.
