Popular Machine Noises
All the concerns mentioned above--with the exception of the interior noises--should be investigated by a trained mechanic as soon as possible. Many of these problems can lead to a dangerous vehicle malfunction.
In the Back
The only noise you will hear from the rear is a knocking or squeaking noise that indicates an issue with the rear suspension (shocks or struts).
Under the Car
The most common noise from under a vehicle is a metallic screeching or scraping noise that indicates worn brake components. Sometimes a low-pitched humming or rumble may be heard that gets louder when turning corners; this indicates a wheel-bearing failure. A clanking noise during acceleration may be a sign of worn universal or constant velocity joints. A loose exhaust pipe will also create a clanking noise.

Just about all noises from inside the car are just annoying and are almost never serious. Most inside noises can be attributed to loose trim paneling.
