Obtain A Niche License Plate In Florida

Spice up your vehivle's exterior with a Florida specialty license plate. Choose from environmental, sports, collegiate, military, medical, social causes and more to adorn the outside of your vehicle and publicly declare your professional associations, interests or personal hobbies. Instructions


1. Logon to Florida's "Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles" website by accessing myflorida.com. Click on "Find an Agency," select "Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles" and select the URL provided.


2. Click on "Tags and Title Full Service Menu," select "Specialty License Plates" and "Specialty License Plates Index and Statistics."


3. Review each specialty license plate available for purchase. Get notification that your specialty license plates are available to be picked up at your county tax collector's office within 6 to 8 weeks.


Return to the Tags and Title Full Service page. Select "DHSMV forms page" and click on "Personalized License Plate," Form #83043. Download and print the form.


5. Complete the form. Provide the date, your name, sex, date of birth, address and Florida identification number.


6. Provide your vehicle's information, including its current decal number, license plate number, vehicle type, make, year, color, weight, title number and vehicle identification number.


7. Certify that you are the registered vehicle's owner or lessee by signing the application.


8. Write the type of specialty license plate you are interested in obtaining on the line provided.


9. Personalize your specialty license plate, if desired. Provide four alphanumeric message combinations in order of preference on the form.


10. Gather proof of Florida insurance and a copy of your current vehicle's registration or renewal notice.


11. Locate the name and location of your county tax collector.


12. Total your fees and make a check out to your county tax collector.


13. Go to your county tax collector's office and provide proof of insurance, a copy of your current vehicle's registration and your check. Submit the application.


14. Note the fees, eligibility requirements and sponsoring organization information associated with each plate. Decide which specialty license plate you want.4.
