Repair Ford Explorer Window Motors

Ford Explorer window motors can be removed without removing the window regulator from the door frame. If there are screws on the backside of the door panel depends on the year.2. Remove the window crack switch using the meager accepted screwdriver by inserting it in the rear of the window switch and prying the rear of the switch up, lifting the switch absent and removing the electrical connector.



1. Remove the Phillips screws from the armrest using the Phillips screwdriver. There Testament be two screws in this universe. Remove the screw in front of the door employ and then remove any screws on the backside of the door panel (provided there are any). The window regulators are bolted into the window regulator. 3. Lift the door panel up by grabbing the backside of the door panel and raising it to remove the hooks on the back of the door panel from the recesses in the door. Rotate the backside of the door panel outward to Proceeds the top curved tool of the panel from the horizontal lambaste on the door, and remove the panel.


4. Remove the plastic dilute guard from the door. The plastic saturate guard conceals the window Engine. Remove the electrical connector from the window motor.


5. Remove the 10 mm bolts from the window motor. These hold the window motor to the window regulator. Hold the window regulator in hand and face the gear upward. Remove the two screws in the cover around the gear and remove the cover. The motor uses a large plastic gear with plastic cylindrical buffers around the center of the gear to protect the main gear. These will be broken into pieces. Use the small screwdriver to lift the large white or yellowish gear out of the motor. Clean this gear of all pieces and then clean all the broken material out of the motor around the gear.


6. Insert the large gear back into the motor and install new plastic buffers in the obvious cavities. Use plenty of grease on the buffers. If the plastic buffers are not available, 10 mm nuts do just as well in these spaces. Install the cover over the gear, install the two screws and tighten. Replace the motor and panel in reverse order of removal.
