The intake manifold on the 4.3L engine is located at the top centre of the engine. The throttle thing is mounted directly on top of it. As the Gauze pedal is depressed, the throttle oppose opens up and allows air to flow to the engine by system of the intake manifold. Emigration of the intake manifold is a quite straightforward case -- a novice mechanic can accomplish this deadweight in less than an period in their own garage.
Instructions
Stare at the back extremity of the lower intake manifold. Remove the bolts from the fuel wrinkle bracket with a ratchet and socket. These days remove the bracket and fuel path. Remove the antagonistic battery cable by loosening the cable clamp with a wrench. Procedure the cable to the side.
2. Stare at the back of the fuel inveigh where the fuel menu edge is at. Attach a fuel strength gauge to the fuel coercion Harbour located there. Apply a quantity of tubing to attach to the gauge and into a fuel container.
3. Clear the Proceeds valve on the gauge and let the fuel fall into the container. Lasting the valve and remove the gauge.
4. Gaze under the radiator and place the extract Harbour. Place a coolant filter pan underneath it and expansive the Harbour with a brace of pliers. Let all the coolant flow absent and then brisk the Harbour back up with the pliers.
5. Remove the duct between the air cleaner and the throttle item on top of the intake manifold. Cause a screwdriver to loosen the clamps. Pull the throttle cable from the throttle body and remove the two cable bracket bolts with a wrench.
6. Loosen the bolts retaining the ignition coil. Practice a ratchet and socket, and then remove the coil.1. Bring vehicle to a plentiful mark. Disengage the engine and manage the hood. Acquiesce engine to chilling.
7. Inspect on the upper department of the manifold meeting and remove the vacuum hose that leads to the brake booster. In the identical sphere, takings off the PCV valve hose. Both of these hoses pull off by help.
8. Tag and mark any remaining vacuum hoses with tape and a sharpie. Remove them from the manifold assembly.
9. Remove the mounting bolts of the upper intake manifold with a ratchet and socket. Lift the upper intake manifold from the engine and set it in a safe spot.
10. Loosen and remove the retaining bolt on the distributor with a wrench. Pull the distributor out of the engine.
11. Follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the intake manifold. Use a screwdriver and loosen the hose clamp and then disconnect the hose.
12. Disconnect any wire brackets or harnesses that may still be connected to the intake manifold. Disconnect the tube from the EGR valve and remove the clamp and bolts with a wrench.
13. Remove the bolts that go through the alternator bracket and into the intake manifold. Use a ratchet and socket for this. Also perform the same action for the A/C compressor bracket.
14. Remove the lower manifold mounting bolts with a ratchet and socket. Grasp the lower manifold and remove it from the engine block. Be sure to grab the gaskets and discard them. Plug all open holes on the engine block with some shop rags. Allow these rags to plug the open holes until you are ready to install the new gasket.
